For those who were unaware of what some of our fellow students had the opportunity of doing this past week, look no further than this article filling you in. David Perry ’27, Sydney Jones ‘25 and Nicole Graubard ‘25 were those who attended. Perry spoke about his experience and what they all did as a group.
He remarked that on the Wednesday before the Superbowl, they flew into the area of New Orleans they were staying in. In addition, they had a tour of the rental place they would be spending their time in for the next several days, along with a quick exploration of the area they were staying in. The day after, they had the stellar opportunity to check out the New Orleans Gold Rugby team, a professional rugby team which competes in the Major League Rugby union league. Along with that, they were able to catch up with an old alumnus of Covenant!
On Friday, the preparation for the big game started to come and they got to visit inside the stadium for some training courses. Along with that, they had more freedom in visiting the city of New Orleans, as they later went to Cafe du Monde and ate some Louisiana staple beignets.
The day after, on Saturday, they were able to work at the Athletes in Action breakfast. While the serving was quite important, Perry, Jones, and Graubard got to see some famous New Orleans athletes like Cameron Jordan and Drew Brees, including Terry Crews too. When Super Bowl Sunday came around, the main attraction the three were working was the exterior fan services. The job essentially required greeting people in the streets as they walked in, directing them as to where to go.
While doing this, they saw famous celebrities like Messi, Machine Gun Kelly, Quavo, and Jason Kelce. An experience, to say the least! They certainly enjoyed the game and their work. The day after, they went to tour the University of Tulane and University of New Orleans whilst soaking in their last night in New Orleans. On Tuesday, the last day of the trip, they rounded it out by arriving back in Chattanooga and returning to campus!
