Opening Week in the NBA

It is that time of the year again—the NBA has started its next season of play after a dominant season and postseason run from the most recent champion, the Boston Celtics, led off of the backs of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The first week of the NBA is highlighted by three undefeated teams so far, and multiple good performers looking to snag either their first MVP or All-NBA/All-Star appearances. The Cleveland Cavaliers have started off the season red-hot, with their first four games of the season all being wins. The Cavs are currently play-off contenders during the past couple seasons after acquiring Donovan Mitchell during the 2021-22 off-season. Their hot start has been thanks to the prolific scoring of the former all-star guard Mitchell, Darius Garland and the prolific defense and upgraded scoring of Evan Mobley. The Boston Celtics have started off 4-0 as well, leaving off where they left last year with each game being won in dominant fashion led by the former Duke Bluedevil Jayson Tatum who has looked like an early MVP candidate to start the season. The last undefeated team left is the Oklahoma City Thunder who has looked nothing short of the best team in the West, and this season so far has been led by the development of Chet Holmgren who has led the league in blocks with four per game through the first three games of the season. The Lakers have also been a hot commodity with the resurgence of Anthony Davis as the leading scorer so far this season, and the genius play calling of new head coach JJ Reddick, who has unlocked Davis as the best player so far this season averaging a near 32 point double-double. A feel good story so far this season is the return of Lonzo Ball to the sport of basketball. After not playing for two seasons, he has returned to the Chicago Bulls lineup. Lonzo has played some key minutes coming off of the bench but surely is something to look out for as the season progresses to see if he can solidify himself with a solid role in the NBA once again. The NBA season has started off hot this season, and it is sure to be an amazing season with the wide variety of talent that has taken over the league in recent years.
