Covenant Athletics have had an eventful fall season. The women’s volleyball team recently completed an undefeated run through the U.S.A. South season—finishing 12-0 in the conference by beating Berea in straight sets. Covenant volleyball recently moved into the N.C.A.A. regional rankings for the first time in school history. Team members have collected multiple individual accolades throughout the season, with Emily Moore most recently winning U.S.A. South Defensive Player of the Week.
The women’s soccer team is set to begin the U.S.A. South Conference Tournament. Seeded 3rd in the conference, the team hopes to begin their run towards a conference championship against the number 6 seed, Wesleyan. Sitting at 10-6 overall (5-2 in conference), the Scots have had to overcome multiple injuries to key players. The last time the Scots played Wesleyan they defeated them 4-0.
The men’s soccer team sits at 7-11-1 heading into a Senior Day tilt with Berea. Currently ranked third in the West Division of the U.S.A. South, the Scots hope to build some momentum before the conference tournament begins on October 28. Sophomores Josh Brower and Jesse Riggs have had solid offensive seasons, leading the team in goals and assists.
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams have enjoyed successful seasons. At the Berry Invitational on October 14 the men’s team finished third and the women’s fourth. With their most balanced teams in years, the cross country teams both have excellent chances to capture U.S.A. South titles on Saturday, October 28.
Finally, the men’s golf team has enjoyed a successful season. At the Chick-Fil-A Invitational on October 23, the team finished 12th in a field that included six teams ranked in the top 50 by GolfStat. The team will conclude its season at the Eagle Invitational which gets underway on October 30.
