On October 5, California Governor Jerry Brown passed legislation limiting who state and local law enforcement agencies can hold, question, and transfer based on immigration status at the request of federal immigration authorities. Communication between California police and Federal officials about immigration status will be prohibited, and undocumented immigrants will be safer from deportation.
