Valentine’s Day is here. Students are sending cards, sweets, or gifts to friends, family members, or sweethearts, and now the attention is drawn to the preferred date destinations in Chattanooga. What are the interesting and fun spots at students’ disposal in the area?
There are many spots that are favorites among the Covenant College students for a date or romantic destination here in Chattanooga. When asked for some suggestions, people got specific as to what makes a date fun or a valuable experience within the spots they chose.
“The Hunter Museum of American Art I like, mostly because being able to go on a date and walk around is a good experience,” said Matti Fusaro. The walking bridge was also suggested, along with Coolidge Park because there is almost always something going on downtown that people can attend. “There are a lot of options Downtown, and the area is nice,” a student said. This same student mentioned that if there are music gigs or concerts, those are the events they most frequent.
A walk downtown is an option that students like and would recommend for quality time, an entertaining view, and a pleasant experience together. Covenant College’s hall dates are also something one could draw on for ideas. Some have gone ice-skating, to a trampoline park. So, if people are thinking of something more active and fun to try together, these are some options.
Top suggestions among Covenant students are The Hunter Museum of American Art, Rock City on the mountain, the river (if they can swing it), or the Cat Café, for those who are not terribly allergic to cats. One student mentioned that the hang-gliding spot down the road from the college is a fantastic place to star-gaze and get a wonderful view either day or night. An enticing view, and a private, quiet space to enjoy time together. Bluff Trail right here on campus is also called a fun hike to watch the sunset.
To mention some others involving food, students mentioned Tupelo Honey Cafe, Neidlovs Cafe & Bakery, Rembrandt’s Coffee House, Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria, and Toto Sushi & Grill. A vast array of options across the genres of food.
There is an intentionality behind the idea of taking someone to a place that is new and exciting for them. Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to send love to those who are special, and let people know that they are appreciated, or even just thought of.
Many students have written or sent Valentines back to their hometowns to friends and family. Carter has the option to make Valentines for one another here soon, and they had some carnations you could grab for your friends available in the mailroom. Something sweet and small might just do the trick.
