Spring Formal Festivities

On March 19th, Covenant college students dressed to the nines and made their way to the Hunter Art Museum for Spring Formal. The event has not been held since Spring of 2019. In 2021 spring formal took place at the aquarium and there was no dancing. Everyone dressed up to walk around and see the fish at the aquarium.

However, this year the event took place in the Hunter Art Museum, the same place where current seniors went for Spring Formal their freshman year. Many students were excited to experience the event in its entirety for the first time.

Spring Formal always occurs at the Hunter Museum. Everyone shows up in their best clothes and those who are not a part of Covenant are also allowed to come. There is a jazz band that plays a swing dancing floor. Students have an opportunity to look around and see the art, or go to the rooftop and dance to music as a DJ plays.

The theme of all the art celebrated how the Hunter Museum has been collecting art for 70 years. The exhibit was called “Beyond the Frame.” The purpose of this exhibit was to show us the behind the scenes of art collecting, and it spotlights some of the Hunter’s most prized possessions. The exhibits take viewers through a learning experience all about how the Hunter began its journey collecting art, and the things that inspire the collection today.

The museum was full of Covenant and non Covenant students alike. There were cookies and coffee being served nearby the swing dancing floor. The jazz band was smaller this year than last time the event took place, but that did not stop everyone from letting loose and having a great time. The DJ allowed 46Cal, a fellow Covenant student, to rap for the students on the roof, so even with the colder weather it was a popular part of what made the event special.
