he weekend before fall break, Covenant College was honored to host the first annual Worship Leader Summit. This conference on October 17-19 was a time for worship leaders from all over to come to campus and hear from speakers sharing their experience in the industry. Notable guests included Keith and Kristyn Getty, Matt Boswell, Matt Papa, Wendell Kimbrough and others. As stated on the Covenant College website, it was “an educational, enriching conference for church music directors and worship leaders.”
For some majors, the name explains it all. For example, I have yet to meet a student confused as to what an art major does—the answer is simple: art. However, some fields of study are a bit more nebulous in their purpose.
I’m going to tell you a story. A true one about what I did this past summer.

There’s a photo of me, wearing my high school graduation attire, holding my first book I published at the age of 18. When I tell people this, especially my fellow English majors, they are often surprised and ask, “how did you do that!?”

Why are we experiencing such a glorification of dark stories in current culture? Why, even here at Covenant College, do professors assign many dark (depressing, shocking, gory, sexual, etc.) stories for students to read? Where are the stories that show true joy and happiness?
It is that time of the year again—the NBA has started its next season of play after a dominant season and postseason run from the most recent champion, the Boston Celtics, led off of the backs of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Lacrosse has had a recent surge within the sports world as pro-leagues and Tik-Tok have provided lacrosse with a plethora of publicity. Lacrosse has engaging gameplay, a wild depth of history within sports, and more scholarship opportunities to give to students who may not have it elsewhere for this sport.
The most shocking news throughout the sports world during the month of October was the passing of University of South Florida (USF) Mens Basketball coach, and former Kennesaw State Mens Basketball coach, Amir Abdur-Rahim.

Students across campus were taken by surprise on Wednesday, October 23 when an email from Dr. Collin Messer, vice president for Academic Affairs, appeared in their mailboxes. This email announced that COR 337: Intercultural Experience, a longstanding course in the Covenant College core curriculum, is being discontinued.
