Homecoming Weekend is always a time that is eagerly anticipated with joy and excitement by all Covenant Scots. This year, alumni were welcomed back onto campus on Friday, September 20. Our alumni got the chance to sit in on classes, reunite with old classmates, and attend special events such as the faculty lecture, cross-country run around campus and the Singing of the Saints. Covenant students got a chance to meet past students and to hear stories about hall pranks, old professors and favorite shenanigans to do in downtown Chattanooga.

Three weeks ago, on September 11, the Art Department held an exhibit on the second floor of the library. This gallery featured artwork from students who spent their semester in France last spring. While enjoying charcuterie snacks, Covenant students gathered to appreciate their friends’ artistic talent and hear about their experience and insights from studying abroad.
When I make a sympathy card for Dad, I capture his memories. I study the picture. I listen to stories. But who is his friend? The friend who listened to my dad when he had to leave, and said, “I’m lovin’ on you.” This friend was a tall, muscular Navy man. They attended Covenant together. Because his friend served, he graduated later. He had a big laugh. He gave good hugs. He didn’t like photos. He was excellent at flag football. He lived on Catacombs. He was Dad’s RA. He was Dad’s roommate.

At risk of dating myself to the paleolithic era, the time has come for a Covid-Cov memoir to air. As a member of the last class to be present for quarantines and mask rules at the school, it is my decrepit duty to share some glimpses of that fated past.
Amidst the record number of freshmen this year, many have not nailed down which major to specialize in. Instead of picking one, you might have assumed the seemingly shameful title of “undecided.” Maybe you did declare a major but are not passionate about it. You might be worried about making money or just generally unsure.

The Lady Scots pulled off a huge victory to start off the homecoming festivities against the Huntingdon womens soccer team. The game started off hot with a very strong cross into the box by Emma Riggs ’25, with a great finish by AnnaLi Weekly ’28 within the first 10 minutes of play. The rest of the game was neck and neck but really saved by the backline of the Lady Scots as they showed strong defense throughout the course of the game to secure the win to move the team 20 5-2-0 and 1-0 in conference.
On Saturday, September 21, college football saw a couple of truly great games worth watching between teams in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25, such as the University of Illinois vs. the University of Nebraska, the University of Southern California (USC) vs. the University of Michigan, the University of Tennessee (UT) vs. the University of Oklahoma and the University of Utah vs. Oklahoma State University.
What has being a part of Scots Athletics meant to me? Being a part of Scots Athletics, and more specifically being a part of the Cross Country and Track teams, has meant being a part of a family. It means that as I stare down what seems like the impossible task of tackling both the harsh environment of a cross country race and the pressure of the ticking clock, I have a group of remarkable friends who are right there pushing and encouraging me to showcase my best self.

Covenant Scots were greeted by an official email in their inbox on September 12 from the Safety and Security Department. In it was the official report containing the statistics of crime and safety reports from 2021, 2022 and 2023. This report was mandated by the The Clery Act, which requires colleges and universities to record and report specific campus crime statistics and safety policies
